Sundowns Ladies are prepared for their Super League debut against Richmond United

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will begin their pursuit of a fourth consecutive Hollywoodbets Super League title against Richmond United in a rematch of the last match of the previous season.

Salome Kekana, Lelona Daweti, Melinda Kgadiete, and Lehlogonolo Mashigo scored for Banyana Ba Style in their most recent matchup, which resulted in a thrilling 4-2 victory for Banyana Ba Style.

After several weeks of tough training, Coach Agnes ‘Madala’ Nkosi is confident about her team’s prospects for the upcoming season.

“I am quite pleased with the level of preparation we had during the preseason break, which has infused the players with confidence ahead of the new season. We anticipate a difficult match against Richmond United because they are a very solid team that frequently achieves impressive results against great teams. Even though we destroyed them last season, they continue to be a very tactical club capable of producing unexpected outcomes. We must always be vigilant to prevent disruptions, and I am confident in our capacity to counter their threats,” Madala remarked.

The Brazilians have experienced recent success versus Richmond United. In two previous seasons, Sundowns Ladies scored 10 goals against their opponents, winning 5-1 at home and 2-5 on the road.

In the previous season, Chloorkop recorded a dominant 5-0 home triumph and a hard-fought 4-2 road victory. Lelona Daweti, who scored in both home and away games last season, expects a more difficult challenge this time around.

“Games against Richmond United have never been easy, despite the scorelines suggesting otherwise. We anticipate they will attack us more aggressively on Sunday, and we have been conditioned to face such situations. Sunday’s victory will send a clear message to the other teams about our desire to defend the Hollywoodbets Super League championship. “On a personal note, I hope to continue my strong form against them,” Daweti remarked.

Sedilame Bosija, the team’s goalkeeper, believes the squad is prepared for the next schedule. “Every team will be vying for the Hollywoodbets Super League championship. Therefore, we anticipate a very difficult season not just in the league, but also in the continental competitions in which we will be competing. We are looking forward to playing Richmond Ladies and aim to start the new season with confidence.”

Last season, the Brazilians dominated the Hollywoodbets Super League, recording 27 victories out of 30 matches, scoring 126 goals, and conceding only 13. Banyana Ba Style amassed an enormous goal differential of +113.

Mamelodi Sundowns take on Richmond United at Lucas Moripe Stadium on a Sunday afternoon. The match is scheduled to begin at 15:00.
