Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies beat TUT Ladies 1-0 in their second Hollywoodbets Super League encounter

The incumbent champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, were defeated 1-0 by TUT Ladies Football Club in only their second loss in the Hollywoodbets Super League.

Andile Dlamini began in goal for coach Jerry ‘Kappa’ Tshabalala’s starting lineup, which also included Karabo Makhurubetshi, Bambanani Mbane, Regina Mogolola, and Tiisetso Makhubela in defense. Lelona Daweti, Nonhlanhla Mthandi, and Melinda Kgadiete began up front as Thalea Smidt, Lerato Kgasago, and Chuene Morifi controlled the midfield.

Both sides made many offensive pushes in the first half, but the opposing goalkeepers handled them well.

Lelona Daweti and Lerato Kgasago were replaced by Chantelle Esau and Boitumelo Rabale following the restart as the scores remained tied.

Mary Ntsweng’s breathtaking free kick with 20 minutes left gave TUT Ladies the lead. Although they had several chances to score, the Brazilians were unable to save a point in the very thrilling game.

Coach Jerry was gushing with praise for his team despite their inability to score in the difficult game.

“It’s a game we lost with dignity because on the field, we gave it all. We controlled the ball well and targeted the crucial areas, but we lost focus and the game was lost as a result. Even though we were defeated, our soldiers performed well.

We must overcome the slight setback and focus on the next game. We are still in a position to defend our championship, and we won’t stop working until we accomplish our major goal, according to Kappa.

Sundowns Ladies still lead the Hollywoodbets Super League standings after the loss with 49 points, 4 points more than JVW FC in second place, while TUT Ladies are third with 45 points.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies’ next match is on Wednesday against Thunderbirds Ladies.
