Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies dominated the second edition of the Hollywoodbets Super League awards presentation for the 2022 season, which was hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on Saturday.
Since the 2019 debut of the Hollywoodbets Super League, the Brazilians have been named league winners for three consecutive seasons.
Last month, Kappa was awarded R50,000 for directing his team to a successful Hollywoodbets Super League championship defense.
“We had a very successful season in the Hollywoodbets Super League, winning 27 of 30 games.” One of our goals at the outset of the season was to successfully defend our title, which we achieved despite suffering difficult losses against UWC and TUT. These losses only served to motivate us, and we are pleased with how the season concluded. I dedicate this prize to my players for their outstanding performance.”
Banyana Ba Style offensive midfielder Boitumelo Rabale was crowned Player of the Season after scoring 24 goals. The footballer from Lesotho, who also received R50,000, defeated colleague Bambanani Mbane and TUT’s Busisiwe Ndimeni to win the accolade.
Kappa’s squad concluded the Hollywoodbets Super League season with 27 victories in 30 games, 126 goals scored, and 13 goals allowed. The Brazilians accumulated a +113-goal goal differential.
In other categories, Richmond United’s Nthabiseng Majiya was awarded the best Young Player of the Season, while JVW FC’s Nompumelelo Nyandeni, a seasoned striker who scored 30 goals in 30 matches, was named the top scorer.
Bloemfontein Celtic goalkeeper Katlego Moletsane was crowned Goalkeeper of the Year, besting rivals such as Regirl Ngobeni of UWC and Sedilame Boseja of Sundowns Ladies. Hloniphile Msezane was named the season’s referee, while Amogelang Msiza was designated the season’s assistant referee.
Congratulations to the Mamelodi Sundowns Women’s Team on their victory!
