Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland tested positive for COVID-19

After experiencing mild symptoms, Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland has tested positive for COVID-19. She last tested negative on Monday during a visit to the White House and was not in close contact with the President.

The Secretary is fully vaccinated and twice boosted, and is confident that she will make a swift recovery. She encourages everyone to stay current on their vaccinations so that, if they are exposed, they too will have milder symptoms.

Secretary Haaland cancelled her West Coast travel upon feeling symptomatic. She is isolating per CDC guidance and working remotely. The Department of the Interior is conducting contact tracing and notifying those with whom she has been in close contact as defined by CDC guidance.
