Minister of Health, Dr Joe Phaahla, tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday after experiencing minor symptoms

Following minimal symptoms, Dr. Joe Phaahla, the minister of health, tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.

The statement added, “Minister Phaahla took tests earlier today; the findings came back positive; and he promptly secluded himself.”

His office has stated that he would continue to work from home for the next seven days, while his scheduled contact appointments have been postponed or will now be conducted online.

The agency continues to report COVID-19 daily positive cases and deaths as a warning that the pandemic is still present and contagious.

The Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, which Phaahla believes has improved his protection against the severity of the virus, was administered in two doses, according to the Department of Health.

The government would like to remind the public that just because the COVID-19 limitations have been lifted doesn’t imply the epidemic is gone.

As a result, vaccination is still available at some locations around the clock.

Since the beginning of the outbreak, there have been 4 000 894 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa, of which 263 infections were discovered on Tuesday.

According to the most recent data, the nation lost 13 additional victims to COVID-19, one in the preceding 48 hours, bringing the total death toll to 101 935.
