Jill Biden displays “moderate symptoms” after testing COVID positive

The East Wing said in a statement on Tuesday morning that Jill Biden had tested positive for COVID-19 and was displaying “moderate symptoms.”

President Joe Biden, 79, who is wrapping up his family’s vacation at Kiawah Island, South Carolina, received the positive diagnosis barely 10 days after he finally came out of isolation after his coronavirus infection.

Following Biden’s first positive diagnosis on July 21, the first couple just recently got back together in Delaware on Sunday, August 7.

They were together for about a week before Jill developed COVID.

This time around, President Biden is virus-free after getting a negative antigen test result on Tuesday morning.

The First Lady’s close friend will wear a mask for 10 days inside and among other people, the White House said, in accordance with the Centers for CDC’s advice.

The President’s testing frequency will likewise be increased, and the findings will be reported.

Biden will maintain his regular schedule, according to the White House.

The president will return to the White House from South Carolina for the remainder of the day to sign the inflation reduction act before departing for his residence in Wilmington, Delaware later on Tuesday night.

Elizabeth Alexander, a representative for Jill, said that she tested negative for the coronavirus on Monday morning before beginning to have “cold-like symptoms” later that evening.

The First Lady’s close associates have been informed, Alexander continued.

The first lady has received a double vaccination boost.

She performed an antigen test after she started experiencing symptoms, and the results were negative. But a second PCR test returned a result that was positive.

The East Wing reported that Jill was receiving COVID for the first time.

When her husband was ill with the illness last month, she stayed in Delaware and avoided him while he quarantined himself in the White House.

She had planned to go to Florida for a Warriors Games event on Thursday, but she will now have to change her travel arrangements.

The first lady will stay at a “private property in South Carolina,” according to Jill’s office, and will go back to her home after two consecutively negative COVID tests.

A new round of Paxlovid therapy has begun for her.

When the president, Hunter Biden, and his wife Melissa Cohen travelled to the Beach Club on Kiawah Island on Monday night, the first lady was not there.

However, Jill was seen on camera riding a bike with President Biden, their granddaughter Finnegan, who is the daughter of Hunter Biden, the day before.

She was seen shopping later on Sunday afternoon with Finnegan and Cohen at the Kiawah Island stores in Freshfields Village.

On Thursday, July 21, President Biden, who is also completely immunised and double-boosted, tested positive for COVID-19 for the first time.

A runny nose, cough, sore throat, and body pains are among the symptoms of the president’s illness, according to daily updates on his status from White House physician Kevin O’Conner.

Biden tested negative on July 26 and 27, five days after being in isolation.

On July 27, he delivered a speech in the Rose Garden with the uplifting message that Americans may now “live without fear” of the virus.

But on July 30, the president had a rare rebound illness, which forced him to remain in seclusion until August 7, when he flew back to Delaware to be with his wife.

Just one week later, the two are once again splitting up, with Jill this time being the one who contracted the illness.
