Princess Diana’s ‘favourite’ designer Bruce Oldfield has been chosen to make the Queen Consort’s gown for the coronation

According to a source, Bruce Oldfield, who was Princess Diana’s favorite designer and had a 10-year working relationship with her, has been selected by Queen Camilla to create her gown for King Charles’s coronation on May 6.

Oldfield and Camilla have a strong friendship, and he has previously dressed her for significant occasions. The insider claimed that Oldfield was the obvious choice for Camilla, as she trusts him to deliver beautiful dresses.

Oldfield has not confirmed the news, but he previously stated that he gave Diana her glamour and Camilla her confidence.

Oldfield started his career in fashion after taking a course at Central Saint Martins and opened his first shop in 1984, selling ready-to-wear and couture designs.

He met Princess Diana through the children’s charity Barnardo’s, of which she was president. Diana regularly wore Oldfield’s designs to functions, and he described their working relationship as “relentless.”

In addition to the Oldfield gown, Queen Consort Camilla will also incorporate diamonds from Queen Elizabeth’s personal jewelry collection into Queen Mary’s Crown for the coronation ceremony.

The historic event will begin with Camilla’s crowning, followed by Charles’s official naming as monarch when the St Edward’s Crown is placed on his head by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

A procession will then lead the newly crowned King past thousands of people to Buckingham Palace, where he will join his family on the balcony to greet the crowd.
