The Queen Consort’s younger sister, Annabel Elliot, will have a formal role during the coronation as a Lady in Attendance, where she will support Camilla, who is set to become Queen Consort. Annabel, 74, will join another Lady in Attendance, Fiona, the Marchioness of Lansdowne, who was named as a Queen’s Companion last November, in the official proceedings.
The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla will take place on May 6, and will include four Pages of Honour who will perform alongside the Ladies in Attendance.
The Pages of Honour include the schoolboys Gus and Louis, 13-year-old twins by Camilla’s daughter Laura Lopes, 13-year-old Frederick by her son Tom Parker Bowles, and her great-nephew Arthur Elliot, 10, who is Annabel Elliot’s grandson.
Annabel Elliot is an interior designer, and is known to be close to her sister.
She has occasionally taken part in royal events with Camilla in the past.
During an ITV documentary screened last year, the sisters gave an insight into their family life and childhood.
They spoke of playing together, catching butterflies in jars and dressing correctly for their strict grandmother.
They also recalled how Camilla buried Annabel’s beloved teddy bear, known as “Tiddy Bar”, in the grounds of their grandparents’ former Hampshire home, admitting that it still rankles with Annabel to this day.
Around 2,000 guests are expected to attend the coronation, with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands among the first guests to confirm their attendance.
First Lady Jill Biden will represent the US, as President Joe Biden is not travelling to the UK for the coronation.
Prince Harry, who has a troubled relationship with his father, will be present as part of the congregation to see his father crowned.
Guests have received detailed information about the coronation day, including the required dress code and toilet opening times.
Women are asked to wear day dresses with hats and fascinators as optional extras, while men are required to wear morning coats, lounge suits, and uniforms.
National dress and decorations, such as an insignia for an MBE or knighthood, are also permitted.
The Ministry of Defence has issued guidance for the three services, stating that men and women from the military are required to wear their most formal uniforms.
The coronation service is set to begin shortly after 11am, with most guests advised to arrive almost five hours ahead of time at a ticket and security checkpoint and be seated by 9am.
Later in the morning, the heads of state, Cabinet members, former prime ministers, foreign royalty, and the royal family will enter Westminster Abbey ahead of the arrival of the King and Queen Consort, with the service due to end at 1pm.
