A grand jury indicted Sophia Rosing, a former University of Kentucky student, on all six charges she faced, including assault and felony assault of a police officer, for attacking a Black student and using racist slurs.
The incident occurred on November 6, 2021, at a campus residence hall where Rosing, who was reportedly drunk, allegedly kicked, punched, and bit Kylah Spring, a 19-year-old student worker, while repeatedly using the n-word.
The assault was captured on video and shared online. Rosing also kicked and bit the arresting officer when the police arrived. The University of Kentucky banned Rosing from campus, and she is due in court on March 17 for her arraignment.
A “March Against Racism” rally was held on campus by students after the video went viral.
