Self-help guru Marianne Williamson confirms she’s in the 2024 Democratic presidential election race

Marianne Williamson, a self-help author and former 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, announced in a Thursday interview that she intends to run for president again in 2024.

Williamson, who championed issues such as establishing a “Department of Peace” and providing $100 billion in reparations during her previous campaign, plans to officially launch her campaign on March 4th in Washington, DC.

She expressed her belief that she can contribute to harnessing the collective sensibility necessary to make a positive impact in the country’s current political climate.

Williamson’s previous presidential campaign ended before the Iowa caucuses, but she garnered attention and became one of the most searched Democratic candidates after accusing former President Donald Trump of conjuring up a “dark psychic force” in the US.

In the interview, Williamson criticized American corporations for trying to “suck the juice” out of democracy and called out lawmakers for not doing enough to limit corporate power.

She also expressed disapproval of the Democratic Party’s decision to shift South Carolina up to the first spot and bump down Iowa in the presidential primaries, calling the move undemocratic and an effort to rig the primaries for President Biden.

Williamson is the first prominent Democrat to confirm her intention to run for president in 2024, while several Republicans, including Trump, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, have already joined the fray. Biden, 80, has indicated his intention to seek re-election but has not formally announced his candidacy.
