On Wednesday, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will face Richmond United in the latest round of the Hollywoodbets Super League. They will be looking to maintain their scorching play.
Even though they play twice a week, the Brazilians have shown no symptoms of losing their excellent form.
In order to manage the club, Coach Jerry ‘Kappa’ Tshabalala has had to rotate his players several times and experiment with alternative formations.
“The last two weeks have been quite eventful for us, as injuries and weariness have plagued the entire squad. There is little time to prepare for the games, and our team has been beset by injuries. Nevertheless, we are pleased that victories continue to accrue despite the tight timetables. “These are the moments that define champions, and we are fortunate to be in this position,” remarked Kappa.
In the previous campaign, Sundowns Ladies scored ten goals against Richmond United, winning 5-1 at home and 2-5 on the road. Despite his team’s recent domination in this matchup, Coach Jerry is not overconfident.
“This is again another encounter that requires caution. During the preseason, where they defeated us, we were able to observe their talents. They are an extremely active team, both with and without the ball. Even though we defeated them twice last season, they are currently a much younger and quicker team. This encounter will be difficult, but we want to continue our fantastic record,” Coach Jerry concluded.
After 15 games, Sundowns Ladies have amassed 42 points courtesy to their 14 victories. The Brazilians have scored the most goals in the league with 67, and have the strongest defense with only nine goals allowed.
Meanwhile, Richmond United is ranked ninth on the standings with 26 points after 16 games and eight victories. They have lost six times and drawn twice, scoring 37 goals and conceding 24 goals, with 37 goals scored and 24 surrendered.
Mamelodi Sundowns play Richmond United at the Groenkloof Stadium in Pretoria on Wednesday afternoon. The match’s scheduled start time is 15H00.
