Rhoda Mulaudzi is eager to make up for lost time after missing almost a month due to injuries as Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies enter the final stages of the Hollywoodbets Super League.
The highly experienced forward made her comeback to football action as The Brazilians defeated Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale.
The star from Limpopo was happy with her return to goal-scoring. “The last several weeks have been difficult for me due to hamstring issues. As a result, I missed a number of games, which angered me. Nonetheless, I am thrilled to be back on the field, and scoring on my return means a great deal to me. I hope to regain full fitness to assist the squad in achieving our goals, which include retaining our titles.”
Rhoda’s return is a huge boost for Coach Jerry Tshabalala’s club, which has a packed schedule in the coming weeks. There are nine games remaining in the Hollywoodbets Super League this season.
In the second edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League, Coach Jerry’s squad will compete in Group B against Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens, Egypt’s Wadi Degla, and Congo’s TP Mazembe. The main women’s tournament on the continent is anticipated to take place between 30 October and 13 November 2022.
Rhoda feels the African champions are prepared to defend their continental title ahead of the hectic schedule.
“There is a reason why we are the continental winners. Within the next month or two, we have a chance to defend the crowns we won last season. This will not be a simple undertaking, but we are prepared to give it our all. Rhoda said, “We still have numerous league games to go, and as Coach Jerry always says, we will take them one step at a time.”
Wednesday’s contest pits Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies against the thirteenth-ranked Vasco do Gama Ladies. In this match, Miche Minnies will compete against her former team.
The right-footed forward scored 15 goals in her rookie season with Chloorkop and was an instant hit.
Sundowns Ladies are now in first place in the Hollywoodbets Super League with 55 points, an astonishing 86 goals scored, and only 11 goals allowed. Additionally, the Brazilians have a goal differential of +75.
The match between Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies and Vasco da Gama Ladies will take place at Parow Park in Cape Town on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. The contest will commence at 15:00.
