One of the most seasoned female footballers in South Africa, Rhoda Mulaudzi, shares her experience

One of the most seasoned female footballers in South Africa is Rhoda Mulaudzi, who has played club football in Australia, Cyprus, and Belarus.

She has been a mentor for some of the young players rising through the ranks as a result of her consistency with Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.

The 33-year-old recently took over coaching duties for the female Under-13 team as the club keeps up its ongoing efforts to elevate the voice of women in sports.

Rhoda also helps Andisiwe Mgcoyi with the female under-15 team.

Mulaudzi has so far accepted the obligations and functions that come with being a coach in the dugout.

“Coaching is harder than people believe it is.

As a gaffer, you have to pay great attention to a lot of different areas of the game.

For the athletes to adopt your concept, you must comprehend both their attitude and mentality.

Being a coach also improves one’s understanding of the psychological components of the game because I can now relate to a player’s frustrations when things don’t go as planned.

I’ve learned more about the game overall since I started coaching, Rhoda said.

To put it mildly, Rhoda’s time with Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies has been incredible.

In the first season of the SAFA National Women’s League (now known as the Hollywoodbets Super League due to sponsorship), Mulaudzi scored 36 goals in 18 games and won the league’s top goalscorer award.

She also collected a championship medal.

The adaptable forward was a nominee for the Tshwane Women in Sports Awards’ “Sports Achiever of the Year” award last year.

She also received the Women’s Player of the Year title from the South Africa Journalist Awards (SAFJA) for the 2019–20 season.

Rhoda, who has played football for a while, is pleased with how South Africa’s women’s game is developing.

“After spending some time outside of South Africa recently, I’m happy to report that women’s football in Africa is finally receiving the attention it deserves.

The CAF Women’s Champions League held its maiden season last year, and there are plans for the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.

Women’s football in South Africa is moving in the right direction. It is a good process, and we have our development structures in Sundowns,” said Mulaudzi.

The seasoned striker described her club’s ideal playing style: “I desire my team to play as a functional attacking unit with a good mindset.

We at Mamelodi Sundowns appreciate having a winning mindset, therefore I try to instill that in my players.

I have a responsibility to assist the team in realizing its potential.

My main objective is to make sure that everyone on the team plays well and is active in their respective roles.

Rhoda Mulaudzi, a winger, was a member of the team that won the Hollywoodbets Super League, the COSAFA CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers, and the CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt last season.

Rhoda Mulaudzi is once again playing as a striker this season, and after switching from the number 36 to the number 9 on her jersey, she has shown herself to be more lethal, scoring four goals in the league so far.

Her creativity has also grown as a result of her winger experience, which has led to more assists.
