Actress Charlbi Dean, 32, passed away

Charlbi Dean passed away at age 32.

A unexpected illness caused the death of the ‘Triangle of Sadness’ actor in New York City.

Dean, who was born and raised in Cape Town, debuted in the 2010 film “Spud” alongside the musician and former YouTuber Troye Sivan.

In 2018, she was a recurring character on the CW series “Black Lightning.”

Variety has reported the death of the model, which comes as the Palme d’Or-winning picture tours the film festival circuit, including Cannes, Toronto, and New York.

Dean co-starred with Woody Harrelson and Harris Dickinson in Ruben Ostlund’s satire as Yaya, a woman who is invited on a yachting vacation that goes awry.

“Death Race 3: Inferno,” “Blood in the Water,” “Don’t Sleep,” and “Porthole” are among her more works. She graced the covers of the South African versions of GQ and Elle through her modeling skills.

Her model fiancé Luke Volker responded to the devastating news of her death on Instagram, writing that he “could not be more proud” of her and her work in “Triangle of Sadness.”

The playwright Jeremy O’Harris tweeted, “This is utterly tragic. After witnessing her in Triangle of Sadness, I found Charlbi Dean to be a fantastic performer.

“Her performance possessed a sensitivity and intelligence that a lesser actress would have denied the character. A true talent who sends her family her love.”
