Tragically, Australian actress Sariah Saibu has passed away

A young Western Australian actress and model has passed away unexpectedly.

On January 30, Sariah Saibu, who acted in the Beautiful They short film that won an award in 2021, went away.

The performer, who was from Perth, was described as radiating “love and light” and, as one distraught relative said, “may her brilliant spirit continue to shine.”

Her aunt Cassandra Colvin commented, “We lost our beloved Sariah this morning.”

“I’m having a hard time putting into words the sadness that I and her family are experiencing right now.

“Rest in peace, lovely. We love you always.”

Saibu portrayed Violet in the movie Beautiful They, which was shown at the Tribecca Film Festival and Melbourne International Film Festival. Australian actor Morgan Davies played Blue.

The film, which Cloudy Rhodes directed, is an LGBTQI coming-of-age surf romance that examines the subtleties of gender.

The project received two nominations in 2021: for Best Short Form Drama from the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) and Best Direction of a Short Film from the Australian Director’s Guild.

The movie won the Best Film prize at the Queer Screen Mardi Gras in 2022 as well as the award for Best Australian Short Film from the City of Melbourne the following year.

Additionally, Saibu performed modeling and appeared as a backup dancer in music videos, such as San Cisco’s SloMo from 2017 and Catlips’ Silver Smoke from 2015.

Friends have rushed to social media in homage to the “gentle” and “bubbly,” who fostered friendships in Darwin and Perth.

Blue Bradshaw, a friend, said the following on GoFundMe: “Sariah is the Queen, the Karaoke King, the Star, and the Icon.”

“The Princess of Darwin as well as Perth.” The center of our universe and the jewel of our hearts.

“Sariah created enduring imprints on her community, and her family and closest friends have sensed and really appreciated that.”

Another acquaintance praised Saibu for having a “great sense of humor” and for being a “bubbly, wonderful spirit.”

They remarked, “She always had time for a talk and gave her all to her friends and her hobbies.”

We won’t forget you, Sariah, so rest in peace.

Since it began on Wednesday, the fundraising, which will aid her family in covering the expenses of tributes in both cities, has earned $4896.

On February 15 at Kidogo Art House in Fremantle and on March 4 at Garramilla in Darwin, Saibu will be said goodbye.
