Police: In Manchester, Harry and Meghan won’t have security support

This week, it was announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would have to utilise their own bodyguards when visiting Manchester.

This is the latest development in their conflict about security while visiting the UK.

The pair apparently flew commercial and arrived in the UK yesterday morning. It was their first trip back since the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June, and they did not seem to be travelling with any children.

Although the Sussexes offered to pay for it, Prince Harry’s legal spat with the Home Office over its reluctance to provide them substantial police security has not eased tensions.

As reported in the Sun, the pair will now have to depend on their own security personnel and the event’s organisers to keep them safe at a One Young World event they will attend in Manchester tomorrow.

One Young World is an organisation that supports young activists and representatives with worthwhile initiatives and encourages the development of future leaders by uniting communities from across the globe.

For many years, Meghan has supported the group, which has hosted speakers like Emma Watson in the past.

On Monday, she is scheduled to give the opening keynote address of the four-day conference.

The couple’s security is being “privately secured,” a Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman told MailOnline.

The UK Home Office previously refused to give police protection for the couple to return to the nation when they stepped down from royal responsibilities and relocated to California, and Prince Harry has been involved in a protracted court dispute with it as a result.

After being informed that he would no longer get the “same degree” of personal protective protection while travelling from the US, the 37-year-old Duke of Sussex has been suing the government.

His aides have previously said that he wishes to fly in his wife Meghan Markle and their kids Archie and Lilibet from the US to pay him a visit, but they are “unable to return to his house” due to the level of risk there.

The whole family travelled for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, but the couple avoided the spotlight.

Archie and Lillibet, their children, are said to have stayed at home in California this week.

It was agreed that the prince should be removed from the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) list after stepping down from his royal responsibilities.

Ravec members get automatic protection paid for by the tax payer.

Harry acquired the right to file a High Court lawsuit against the Home Office for his security measures in the UK in July.

Harry’s attorneys will be permitted to present his arguments in a judicial review of the Home Office decision, according to a High Court judge who found that Harry had a “arguable” case on four of the five grounds on which he launched his petition.

Ravec removed the assurance of police assistance once his official position expired and he was allowed to become “a privately supported member of the Royal Family with authority to make his own money and follow his own philanthropic interests.”

In a letter to the Queen’s private secretary, Ravec chairman Sir Richard said that while the committee will “continue to monitor the security of the Sussex family,” “there is no justification for publicly funded security protection.”

The Metropolitan Police “current provision will be discontinued.”

When Harry made one of his infrequent trips to England in June 2021, he claimed he just learned the full depth of the alteration and was dissatisfied with the arrangements.

According to the Home Office, Ravec was within his rights to decide that his security arrangements will be evaluated on a “case by case” basis.

As they make their way back to the UK this week, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have a jam-packed agenda that includes the One Young World conference on Monday, a trip to Dusseldorf, Germany, on Tuesday, and a further charity event in the UK on Thursday.

The visit to Germany will commemorate one year before the start of the 2023 Invictus Games, which were established by the Prince and allow former military members to participate in a range of sporting disciplines, in the city.

However, despite having a free day on Wednesday, it is believed that Prince Harry does not presently have any arrangements to see his brother, Prince William.

Harry and Meghan will be residing just five minutes away from Prince William and Kate Middleton, who moved into their new Windsor house, Adelaide Cottage, with their children this week.

It is reported that Harry and Meghan want to use their Windsor property, Frogmore Cottage, as a base.

George, Charlotte, and Louis will reside there with William and Kate for the school year after being enrolled there.
