Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t attend Queen’s state reception

Sunday at Buckingham Palace, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not attend a formal reception for foreign leaders.

The couple received an invitation to the dinner held by Harry’s father, King Charles III, and his wife, Camilla, according to The Telegraph.

However, according to the tabloid, royal advisers “insisted” that Harry and Meghan were not invited and were not expected to go. According to the outlet, the duo will not go since palace authorities stated that the gathering is “for working members of the royal family.”

Buckingham Palace and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex representatives did not react quickly to Insider’s request for comment.

The relationship between Harry and Meghan and the royal family has been portrayed as acrimonious since they stood down as senior royals in 2020. They accompanied Prince William and Kate Middleton on September 10 to witness floral tributes to the Queen, however it is unclear whether the procession around Windsor Castle signifies reconciliation.

Despite his ten years of service in the British military, Harry was not authorized to wear his military uniform in a procession for the Queen on Wednesday because he is not a working royal.

Later, the palace reversed its judgment, permitting both Prince Harry and his uncle, Prince Andrew, to wear their uniforms while standing guard for the Queen. Andrew lost his titles and patronages in January 2022, following the filing of a sexual assault complaint against him in 2021.

Saturday evening in Westminster Hall, Harry, his brother Prince William, and his cousins are expected to stand guard in front of their grandmother’s coffin.
