Prince William allegedly urged Prince Harry against proposing to Meghan Markle because he thought their romance was going “too fast.”
He revealed in his shocking new memoir, “Spare,” that William rejected the notion that Harry and Markle would “become a foursome” alongside him and Kate because she was “after all, an American actress.”
Harry, however, told William that he believed his late mother, Diana, had assisted him in “finding” the “Suits” actress as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex became more serious, which didn’t sit well with the Prince of Wales.
After his younger brother made the bold assertion, a “concerned” William “took a step back” and reprimanded him for “taking things a little too far.”
Despite William’s hesitation, the couple announced their engagement in 2017 after dating for just over a year.
But the preparation for the wedding only widened the chasm between the brothers.
William rejected the idea of Harry and Markle getting married at Westminster Abbey, where he and Middleton had exchanged vows seven years earlier, when it came to deciding on a location.
He also objected to the couple picking St. Paul’s, the location of Princess Diana and King Charles’ 1981 wedding, claiming that it was “too grand” for their union.
Middleton and Markle’s friendship deteriorated at the same time that the wedding led to conflict between the brothers.
Specifically addressing Princess Charlotte’s clothing, the two women got into a now-famous argument over the bridesmaid dresses for the Sussexes’ wedding.
The Princess of Wales allegedly texted Markle about a “problem” with the fit of her daughter’s dress just days before their wedding, according to Harry.
The actress was informed by Middleton that because the dress was “too big, long, and baggy” and required to be entirely altered, Charlotte, who is now 7 years old, “burst into tears” when she tried it on.
The two women got into a heated disagreement after Middleton finally consented to bring the child to the palace for changes, leaving Markle sobbing “on the floor.”
Although they were able to patch things up the next day, the Fab Four’s relationship won’t be as amicable after “Spare” is released on Jan. 10.
