Paul Pelosi is back up and healthy after horrific hammer attack

Paul Pelosi, who was brutally attacked in a home invasion last October, has made an impressive recovery and was spotted out and about with his wife, Nancy Pelosi. The couple turned heads at Balthazar on Thursday, where they had lunch. A fellow diner noted that Paul, who had surgery to repair his skull after being hit with a hammer, appeared to be doing well and was even standing upright. The only noticeable difference was that he was wearing a hat, which may have been to cover a scar.

The diner commented that it was great to see Paul up and about and looking alert, despite the attack. They also noted that both Paul and Nancy looked thrilled to be out and about, though they appeared to have extra security. Balthazar seems to be a favorite spot for the couple, who were married in 1963, having reportedly eaten there in January as well.

The news of Paul’s spirited appearance is an encouraging sign. According to Nancy, it may be months before he’s back to normal, but his quick recovery is certainly a good sign. The assailant has been arrested and charged with attempted homicide and other crimes by the San Francisco Police Department. Other diners at Balthazar on the same day included Harper’s Magazine owner John Rick MacArthur and editor Lake Micah.
