Paul Pelosi’s destroyed Porsche after his drunken collision

This image of Paul Pelosi was taken in the moments after his May intoxicated vehicle collision. He seems bleary-eyed and unsteady.

Additional images, which DailyMail.com has exclusively received, reveal close-up images of his hands after the collision, which are damaged and bruised.

Pelosi, 82, was sentenced earlier today to three years of probation, a six-month alcohol education programme, and a $150 fine after entering a guilty plea to two counts of DUI causing harm and driving while intoxicated and causing injury.

The whole California Highway Patrol investigation file, which includes images of the accident site and the injuries, has now been acquired by DailyMail.com.

The late May 28 evening dispatch call is audible and details a two-vehicle incident. Detailed reports provide further insight into the accident.

According to the report, the 82-year-old told police that he had a glass of champagne and a glass of wine with his meal of pork chops and salad but that he had stopped drinking two hours before to the 10 o’clock collapse.

Pelosi, who has a residence in neighbouring St. Helena, California, was detained on the side of the road in Yountville and was taken to the prison at 12.32 a.m. His blood alcohol level was 0.08 when he was processed there.

Just before he was freed at 4.30am, a mugshot of him in a brown suit with a shamefaced expression was taken.

Nancy, the Speaker of the House, quickly distanced herself from the event when she was in Rhode Island on business.

Pelosi was found inside her damaged silver Porsche Carrera 4S when police arrived, according to the thorough CHP report written by officer Jesus Perez. She was also reportedly smelled of alcohol.

Pelosi claimed to the police that he had “momentarily” halted at a stop sign before “went for it” after finding what he believed to be a gap.

Jesus Lopez, 48, of Calistoga, California, was operating a white Jeep when it collided with Pelosi’s vehicle, spinning it around and causing Lopez to lose control.

Perez said Pelosi was able to exit the vehicle on his own, but when requested to go a few steps to get his insurance documents, he showed signs of being ‘unsteady’ on his feet.

Pelosi, 82, responded that he had just had a meal of pork chops and salad, followed by a dessert, while having supper with friends who lived nearby when the police asked him whether he had been drinking.

In addition, he acknowledged drinking a glass of champagne before supper and another glass of wine with his meal.

Pelosi also admitted to using ‘half a dozen’ different forms of medicine, including statins (which decrease cholesterol) and uloric (given to those with gout).

Officer Perez claims that on the walk to his police vehicle for the sobriety tests, Pelosi was had to grab onto the patrol car because he “visibly wavered” during the balance test and was made to clutch onto it during the one-leg test.

After failing the exams, Pelosi consented to a blood test before being placed in double handcuffs and transferred to the Napa County Jail, where Perez left him with one hand shackled to a bench in a briefing room.

He was transferred to Queen of the Valley hospital for medical attention after having blood drawn, and then was returned to the prison where he complained of wrist discomfort from the cuffs.

He was then arrested and let go.

Lopez suffered only minor wounds, refused to comment on the incident, and subsequently invoked California’s Marsy’s Law, which safeguards the victim’s right to privacy and enables them to seek reparations from the perpetrator if found guilty.

Images from the site show how the two cars came to rest immediately before the Oakville general store, near the junction of Walnut Lane and S-29.

After 48 hours, the crash’s effects could still be seen, including damage to the fence enclosing a vineyard and a parking sign that had been knocked down.
