Duke of Marlborough’s £132k Porsche Cayenne gets repossessed

After payments fell behind, a county court judge permitted a financing firm to confiscate the Duke of Marlborough’s £132,000 Porsche Cayenne.

The owner of the magnificent Blenheim Palace, Charles Spencer-Churchill, was not present in Oxford court for the motion to retake possession of the top-tier luxury vehicle.

The Duke was allegedly accused of failing to make payments, therefore Volkswagen Financial Services UK Ltd brought him before the court for a hearing to collect the partially paid-for automobile.

According to The Oxford Mail, Porsche Financial Services, doing business as Volkswagen Financial Services UK Ltd., sued the owner of Blenheim Palace, alleging that he owed about £64,500 on the $132,00 Porsche Cayenne.

The publication said that the financial arrangement was signed in July 2018 by the Duke, whose legal name is Charles Spencer-Churchill.

A little over half of the Cayenne EST Turbo Tip S’s total price of £132,194.34 was paid by the buyer, or £67,721.64. There was still a sum of £64,472.70 to be paid, according to the publication.

In court documents, Georgina Muschamp, a lawyer for VW Financial Services, said that the Duke received a default notice in September of last year advising him of the overdue instalments and cautioning him that the car may be seized.

“Then, in November, the Agreement was essentially cancelled.”

Ms. Muschamp said that in February, lawyers for VW Financial Services wrote to the Duke and demanded that he hand up the Porsche. The Duke of Marlborough, the defendant, has refused to do so or has otherwise failed to do so, she said.

District Judge Richard Lumb decided during the hearing that the Porsche, which the peer had “wrongly maintained,” could be recovered by the financial services company. Additionally, he was mandated to pay £602 in charges by September 13th.

According to the publication, requests for comment were made to Blenheim Palace, but neither the Duke nor his agents responded.
