In court in Napa County on Tuesday, Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, admitted to driving while intoxicated.

He received credit for time served and was given a sentence of three years on probation and five days in jail. The spouse of the House speaker is required to participate in a three-month drinking and driving course and complete an eight-hour court work program as part of his probation.

Additionally, he has to install an ignition interlock device on his car for a year.

According to TMZ, Pelosi was fined $150.

Following an incident on May 28 in the California wine region, Pelosi was facing legal issues.

Around 10 p.m., Pelosi was discovered by CHP officers after he crashed his Porsche into a stop sign while trying to cross State Road 29 after a wild dinner party. He hit a 2014 Jeep and wrecked his own vehicle.
Pelosi was on her way to the couple’s St. Helena vineyard house.

The second motorist, 48-year-old Jesus Lopez, reported to investigators the following day that he was experiencing headaches and stiffness in his upper right arm, right shoulder, and back as a result of the collision.

According to a court document originally acquired by The New York Post, Pelosi failed a field sobriety test at the scene and police characterized his eyes as “red and watery.”

The report noted that the individual had a strong stench of alcohol coming from his breath, was unstable on his feet, and had slurred speech.

Pelosi presented the police with his “11-99 Foundation card” when they questioned him for identification. This organization offers financial aid and scholarships to California Highway Patrol officers and their families.

Pelosi was detained on accusations of drinking and driving.

Allison Haley, the district attorney for Napa County, took weeks to charge Pelosi, but she did so on June 23 with two misdemeanors: one case of DUI causing harm and another of DWI causing injury.

According to court records, Pelosi had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.82 percent.

Pelosi’s defense attorney submitted a not guilty plea to both allegations during a prior court appearance.

Additionally, Pelosi, who was absent from the hearing, forfeited his right to a jury trial.

On Tuesday morning, a settlement meeting was organized, and that is when the guilty plea was made.

When her husband’s accident occurred, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was in Rhode Island speaking to Brown University graduates at their graduation.

In the aftermath, she refused to comment on it, according to the San Francisco NBC station.
