Mother fights off kidnapper who tried to abduct her 8yr old son in broad daylight in Yeovil, Somerset

A mother fought off a man who attempted to snatch her eight-year-old son in Yeovil, Somerset.

The boy was walking to school with his mother and another child in a pushchair when the man pulled up beside them in a “dirty white estate with tinted rear windows” just before 8am on Monday.

The man got out of the car and tried to take the boy, but the mother managed to hold onto her child and shout for help. The suspect fled in the car towards Preston Road.

Avon and Somerset Police are conducting house-to-house and CCTV enquiries, and are in touch with the boy’s school. Reassurance patrols have also been carried out.

The police have asked any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. The man is described as being in his 30s, about 5ft 8ins tall, with broad shoulders and a medium build. He has olive brown skin, dark hair styled in a quiff, and a beard.
