Meyiwa trial resumes with Mosia vs. Ndlovu

As the cross-examination of the first witness, Sergeant Thabo Mosia, continued at the North Gauteng High Court, the contents of the second docket investigating the murder of former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa reclaimed center stage.

The late Major General Johan Ndlovu’s declaration was admitted as hearsay evidence by the presiding judge, Tshifiwa Maumela, and read in court by the defense attorney, Advocate Zandile Mshololo, who claimed he had nothing to do with Mosia, a surprising turn of events.

In his statement, Ndlovu claimed he asked Colonel Mogope where the victim was, and he was led to Kelly Khumalo’s mother’s home in Vosloorus. They then proceeded to Botshelong Hospital in Vosloorus, where Senzo Meyiwa was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Ndlovu stated that when he arrived at the crime scene, he did not locate any forensic photographers. He then called the Vosloorus police station and requested the individual whose name he cannot recall to come to the scene. According to reports, he (Ndlovu) then provided Mosia with the address, and Mosia found Ndlovu at the gate, who then introduced him to Captain Zwane, who was in charge of the scene.

Adv Mshololo reads the late Major General Ndlovu’s statement, in which he states that he never pointed out any exhibits to Thabo Mosia since he was not in charge of the crime scene and that he never directed him to go to Botshelong Hospital because he was already at the scene. #SenzoMeyiwa #SenzoMeyiwatrial image: https://twitter.com/ETH1P1EwvT

“I did not direct him to Botshelong Hospital because I was already at the crime scene and was not in control of the situation,” Ndlovu stated in his statement.

In June of this year, while he was still being cross-examined, Mosia testified that the late Ndlovu told him about the incident, but did not provide him with the location of the crime site. Mosia instead headed to Botshelong Hospital, where Meyiwa was rushed, and then to the Vosloorus police station to collect the murder scene’s address.

Mosia also disclosed that when he arrived at the crime scene, he encountered the same Ndlovu who refused to provide the address. Subsequently, he disclosed that he depended on him for information in the same way that he normally depends on a police officer he encounters on the site.
