The conflict between the families of Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo and Babes Wodumo persists.
Following claims that Mampintsha’s mother was denied access to her son’s body in Westville, new reports indicate that she collapsed and was transported to the hospital.
According to reports, two more unidentified Durban artists were hospitalized.
Babes Wodumo’s and Mampintsha’s families have been at odds for a very long time, which is no secret.
In the most recent season of the couple’s reality show Uthando Lodumo, their families looked to have let the past be the past, but after Mampintsha’s death, the tension is apparently heating up once more.
According to a recent Daily Sun article, Mampintsha’s family felt marginalized after Babes’ family reported that Mampintsha was recovering from a stroke.
A few days after his record company reported that he had suffered a stroke, the gqom pioneer passed away at the age of 40 on Christmas Eve.
According to Ezivuthayo Emaputaland, Zama Gumede, Mampintsha’s mother, fainted after being excluded from her son’s funeral plans.
“Mampintsha’s mother reportedly fell when she saw the funeral arrangements completed without her knowledge. Zama, the mother of Mampintsha, fainted unexpectedly and was brought to KwaMashu CHC by ambulance. Supposedly, her heart was in pain after she learned on television that her son’s burial arrangements had been finalized, and she fainted abruptly. She inquired as to why she was not included,” Ezivuthayo Emaputaland posted on Facebook.

Zandile Maphumulo, the spokesman for Mampintsha’s family, updated the media during a joint family press briefing on how Babes Wodumo is coping with the singer’s death.
“With regard to Babes, as I have previously stated, losing a loved one is difficult. She has not been well for the previous two days, but as a God-believing family, we pray for everything, and the prayers of the Simelane and Maphumulo families have helped and sustained her.”
They were very close, both friends and lovers, and they were husband and wife.
The family also stated that a celebration of Mampintsha’s life will be held in Durban Central on Thursday, and that his funeral will be held on Friday.
The family indicated that full details would be revealed in due time.
“The funeral will be held on Friday, and we are still searching for a venue with the support of the government, which has stepped in to assist us, since we are all aware that this person was a KwaZulu-Natal icon.
“The memorial ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday at the ECC church, the church of Pastor Vusi Dube. Babes Wodumo’s father stated that everyone is invited to attend the memorial service because it will be a celebration of Mampintsha’s life.
