Babes Mandla Maphumulo, the father of Wodumo, was reportedly admitted to King Edward Hospital in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
According to reports, the 40-year-old musician Mampintsha was brought to Durdoc Hospital in Durban Central after being hospitalized to the hospital over the weekend. The musician, who is wed to Gqom icon Babes Wodumo, is thought to have had a stroke.
His sister, Pinki Gumede, confirmed the information to Daily Sun and expressed concern for him.
“On Saturday, December 17, we got a call telling us to head over to his house right away. He appeared to be seriously ill when we got there. Already, his speech was impaired. He claimed that after speaking with an isangoma, the latter advised him to perform a customary rite.
Mampintsha instructed the family to purchase a goat and obtain impepho so that he could carry out the ceremony, according to Gumede.
“We followed through on that and returned home. But he never did show up. Instead, he called and instructed us to carry out the ceremony alone. We were shocked by this, yet helpless to stop it. We therefore killed the goat and consumed it. Impepho wasn’t burned, though.
Pinkie Gumede, his sister, adds that they discovered he had a stroke and that he had been readmitted to the hospital a few days later.
We spoke with Babes and her family once more, but this time we were instructed not to be concerned about him since everything is OK. We are aware of his serious illness, yet we are once again powerless to intervene. We are concerned and afraid that he might suffer a disastrous outcome.
Mampintsha’s mother Zama also told the Daily Sun that she is pleased with his decision to seek the advice of a sangoma because he is not ill.
“The hospital won’t be able to assist him. I’ve been telling him for a long time that he needs to do amagobongo, but he won’t listen.
