Babes dances at the memorial service for Mampintsha’s mother

Babes Wodumo was in high spirits as she sang and danced during the memorial service for Mampintsha’s late mother, Zamanguni Gumede.

Despite claims that Babes Wodumo was prohibited from attending the funeral of Mampintsha’s mother, it appears that the gqom artist and the Gumede family are not at odds.

The memorial service for Zamanguni Gumede, who died of a stroke on January 15 evening, was held yesterday in L Hall KwaMashu, Durban. Reports indicated that Babes was prohibited from attending today’s burial service.

However, a Daily Sun video shows the Wololo singer dancing with her in-laws during Zama’s memorial service, disproving the rumors.

Despite Babes Wodumo’s “bewitching” accusation, Mampintsha’s sister Pinky Gumede and Babes Wodumo do not have a rivalry. In the video, Babes is seen dancing and singing with mourners, including Pinky, who previously accused Babes of not visiting her hospitalized mother.

The tape also includes a touching clip of Zamanguni sobbing after meeting Tira, who visited the family together with other KZN artists to comfort them during this trying time. Zama may be heard thanking Tira for her visit. View the video clip below:

Zamanguni died on January 15 at the age of 64 after being hospitalized. This was a little more than a week after her son Mampintsha passed away on December 24. Pinky, speaking to Daily Sun, stated that Babes Wodumo did not visit her mother in the hospital. She further asserted that the Wololo hitmaker did not call Zama to inquire about her well-being.

Pinky stated, “Despite making peace with MaGumede at Mpintsho’s funeral, she never visited her in the hospital nor did she call her.”

She continued, “She has never contacted us, and we have never contacted her.”

Before Zama’s passing, Babes and her mother-in-law smoked the peace pipe. At Mampintsha’s funeral, the musician extended an olive branch to her. At the funeral, she pleaded with Zama to cease their long-running rivalry and stated she had forgiven her.

“I desire to pardon you for all of your sins since I am the kid of a pastor and am saved. I forgive you. May all disputes be resolved today!”
