Cringeworthy: Babes fans dancing near the coffin of the mother-in-law

Babes Wodumo is receiving criticism after a video showing her dancing in front of her mother-in-casket law’s surfaced over the weekend.

Gumede was laid to rest on January 21 after apparently suffering a stroke a few weeks after the death of her son and fellow Big Nuz member Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, who also died of a stroke.

The video depicts Babes Wodumo, who is wearing a black dress and a red bonnet, dancing in front of her mother-in-casket law’s to her late husband’s hit song, Ngeke.

In the clip, mourners at the funeral applaud the Wololo hitmaker as she dances and even does the popular vosho dance motion.

Take look…

“Today, I want to guarantee that you will never go hungry as long as I am alive. I shall be your tower of strength; I will be your sister. Please phone me if you need anything, and if you cannot reach me, feel free to visit my home in Westville. I am willing to pay for a taxi,” Babes Wodumo was reported as saying in the Daily Sun.

While many Twitter users defended Babes Wodumo after she was criticised for dancing at the funeral of her late musician spouse Mampintsha, Twitter users do not condone her behavior during Gumede’s funeral.

“KuMampintsha, yes, it was acceptable; it was her husband and mother-in-law; it’s a NO bandla,” wrote @Wrzinto uMenzi.

“At some point, we must stop defending certain actions and behaviors, because two wrongs do not make a right. We are complicit in the activities of gen Z or X or whatever, because when they hear people say, ‘She’s mourning in her own way,’ it validates their behavior. Yes, she has endured the harshest treatment and abuse; she requires assistance. Not people exaggerating le behavior,” @m mndzebele said.

In the meantime, @ thabang m stated, “This is vulgar and nasty. This mother had nothing to do with her music, and she observed the funeral of her son in a different manner. She (Babes) lacks regard. You don’t send somebody off the way you want; you send them off the way they would have wanted.”
