IFP responded to EFF’s assassination allegations with the phrase, “vile misinformation.”

Regarding the alleged assassination plan against Marshall Dlamini, the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has accused the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) of making false and sensationalist claims.

The EFF announced on Tuesday, 7 February, that it had obtained an intelligence report from the South African Police Service (SAPS) indicating that senior IFP members are conspiring to kill Dlamini.

IFP REJECTS EFF ASSASSINATION ALLEGATIONS
Mkhuleko Hlengwa, a spokeswoman for the IFP, stated that the EFF’s grandiose dreams had gone full circle in the face of a developing internal uprising stemming from its choice to restore the ANC to power.

Hlengwa stated that the EFF overestimated its influence, anticipating that their separation from the IFP would be disastrous for the party.

“However, we must caution the EFF if it presses on the old wounds of our people without consideration for the anguish this creates. The claims are provocative and hazardous political maneuvering.

“They have provided no evidence to support this grave allegation, which the IFP now demands be probed by SAPS. If SAPS truly knew of an assassination plot and knew who was behind it, arrests would have been made.”

The IFP has also demanded clarification from Police Minister Bheki Cele and the State Security Agency.

INKATHA SLAMS RED BERETS FOR FLIP-FLOPPING
In addition, Hlengwa stated that the EFF’s recent political maneuver of withdrawing from co-governance with the IFP did not provide the desired outcomes. Suddenly, the IFP, with whom they worked amicably until it refused to hand over control of Umhlathuze, is a “apartheid agent” that “only thrives through violence.”

“This type of flip-flopping is the EFF’s trademark. “Let us not forget that the same Malema who said in 2021, “No way, no way, will the EFF vote with the ANC,” is now voting with the ANC,” Hlengwa remarked.
