Despite being bullied off the platform more than a year ago, ABC host Lisa Millar continues to be targeted by vile Twitter trolls.
Most recently, the attacks have become disgustingly personal, with the trolls aiming for Millar’s outfit. In September 2021, Millar deactivated her Twitter account after receiving a slew of truly vile and distressing personal attacks.
Co-host Michael Rowlands confirmed that Millar was leaving the platform due to the abuse she had been receiving.
Despite her departure from Twitter, the attacks on Millar continue. On Monday, the trolls hit a new low, attacking the host for the skirt she was wearing. Many of the insults are too vile to publish, with several Australian personalities calling out the accounts responsible for the attacks.
Journalist Leonardo Puglisi shared a collection of the “disgusting” tweets, claiming it was another example of why the news host quit Twitter.
Many others agreed with Puglisi, with some calling for the Twitter users responsible for being thrown off the platform.
This latest incident comes after ABC axed the Twitter accounts of several of its flagship television shows due to relentless trolling by political extremists.
The Twitter accounts for ABC News Breakfast and Insiders were among those set to be closed, with the ABC claiming the move was to centralize all updates through the broadcaster’s main ABC News Twitter account. However, the network denies that the accounts were closed due to online trolling.
