Fetty Wap seen sunbathing in Miami Beach over the weekend even as he awaits drug trafficking trial

Rapper Fetty Wap is making the most of his freedom while facing potential life in prison on federal drug trafficking charges.

Fetty, who celebrated his 31st birthday on Tuesday, was spotted sunbathing in Miami Beach over the weekend, just days before his birthday.
Fetty, whose real name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances last October. He was released on bond a few days later and is now awaiting trial.

As he went for a swim in the ocean with a female friend, his ankle monitoring device, which was one of the conditions of his release, was visible.

The rap artist, who turned 31 on Tuesday, was spotted in Florida with a friend having some fun in the sun just days before his birthday.

Before retiring to their VIP beach cabana and sunbeds at the luxury oceanfront Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel, the two splashed around in the water.

His hair was styled in long dreadlocks and he wore basic black swimming trunks.

His companion wore a multi-colored patterned bikini with a cheeky bottom to show off her curves.

Before retiring to their VIP beach cabana and sunbeds at the luxury oceanfront Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel, the two splashed around in the water.

One person who saw the pair told DailyMail.com that Fetty was very nice and courteous to the hotel beach staff and fans, and that he even played beach football with them.

Later, they were seen gathering their belongings and returning to his hotel room.

The Trap Queen hitmaker, who is originally from New Jersey, was in town for an appearance at STORY Nightclub, in Miami Beach, the previous night.

Despite his legal troubles, the rap star appears to be keeping busy and booking performances.

Just last month Fetty revealed he was involved in a scary in-flight incident after the plane in which he was traveling experienced mechanical issues following his concert in Charleston, South Carolina.

Fetty took to Instagram to share a photo in which he was seen seated on the dark plane with the caption: ‘Plane just lost power …. What the hell is going on, bro?’

He then updated his 7.4 million followers on the terrifying encounter with another post a few hours later.

‘Yo, we got off that plane and onto another jet because that s*** was scary,’ added the 679 artist.

When a fellow passenger mentioned that he had never encountered a power outage on an airplane before, Fetty Wap replied, “Neither have I.”

Following his release from detention on November 5 after posting a $500,000 bond, the My Way rapper is dealing with legal troubles.

Fetty had been arrested by FBI agents at the Rolling Loud music festival at Citi Field in Queens, New York, just days before, on suspicion of conspiring to bring heroin and fentanyl into the New York City area.

He and five other people, including a New Jersey correctional officer, are accused of running a drug ring and plotting to sell drugs at the festival.

Officials say the group allegedly ran a multimillion-dollar drug operation, transporting more than 100 kilos of opioids and fentanyl from the West Coast to the East Coast and selling it on Long Island and in New Jersey.

Following his arrest, Fetty Wap agreed to GPS monitoring, drug testing, and the surrender of his passport. With the permission of the court, he is permitted to travel throughout the United States.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office released photos of the bust, which included $1.5 million in cash, stacks of cocaine, bags of heroin, and fentanyl, among other drugs.

In 2017, the rapper was arrested on charges of drunk driving, reckless endangerment, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, illegally changing lanes, and drag racing.
