During Operation Vala Konke, suspects were apprehended and drugs seized

Monday’s seizure of tik, nyaope, dagga, and 319 litres of alcohol in Standerton, Mpumalanga demonstrates that Operation Vala Konke is producing great results.

The provincial police spokesman, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, stated that while conducting patrols in the region, authorities discovered a group of individuals who reportedly own an illicit booze store.

Following a check of the premises, a considerable quantity of alcohol was discovered and seized.

“A 35-year-old man was detained and admitted guilt by paying a fine. In the meantime, the second illicit liquor store was shut down after [police] officers found that a particular spaza establishment was being utilized to trade alcohol. Mohlala stated that a 33-year-old guy was detained and fined as an admission of guilt.

Two further suspects, ages 23 and 30, were apprehended for theft in the neighborhood, and a 45-year-old male was apprehended for assault with the intent to cause great bodily damage.

On Tuesday, the suspects were set to appear before the Standerton magistrate’s court.
