Police seized 24 firearms firearms during multi-disciplinary operation

Police conducted a multi-disciplinary operation in the early hours of today morning in the Manqofini district of Weenen. Shots were fired at the cops as they approached the designated house. They approached the residence with caution and were able to disarm eight suspects.

Officers discovered a shotgun, two rifles, a revolver, four pistols, and ninety rounds of ammunition during a search of the home. Inside the house, police discovered two explosive devices, a vehicle engine, and dagga.

The police went to the Sahlumbe neighborhood in Weenen, where they found a rifle and 15 pistols. Unfortunately, the suspects were able to flee before police arrived.

Weenen SAPS seized and detained eight people ranging in age from 20 to 46. On Wednesday, they will face charges of attempted murder, possession of dagga, unlawful possession of explosives, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition in the Weenen Magistrates Court.

During the investigation, twenty-four firearms were seized.
