HATAY, Turkey – A little dog was rescued from the ruins of a fallen building in Hatay, Turkey, after a terrible earthquake struck the region earlier this month, and the entire rescue was captured on camera.

Turkey’s deadliest earthquake in recent history

About two weeks after a series of disastrous earthquakes, the death toll continues to increase in Turkey and Syria, making this the deadliest natural disaster in modern Turkish history.

At 4:17 a.m. local time on February 6, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake shook the region (8:17 p.m. EST Feb. 5). According to the U.S. Geological Survey, this was followed almost immediately by a powerful aftershock of magnitude 6.8.

The region has been shaken by tens of thousands of aftershocks of varied magnitudes for weeks. Nine hours later, a violent aftershock with a magnitude of 7.5 occurred.
