A man dies during Lincoln Week Regatta in South Australia

A competitor in a regatta has died after falling off a vessel off Port Lincoln, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia.

The participant was hurt and fell into the water on the opening day of the Lincoln Week Regatta, which was organized by the Port Lincoln Yacht Club.

Steve Kemp, chairman of the regatta, stated that the yacht crew and race administration reacted swiftly to recover the individual after his fall.

Crew members attended to the sailor in the water, and a mayday call was made to management.

After the rescue boat returned to land, the guy in his sixties received CPR and was treated with a defibrillator.

They were met by ambulance staff, but the man could not be resuscitate, according to the police.

Mr. Kemp stated that the yacht club was profoundly upset and was providing all possible assistance to its sailors, the crew of the concerned yacht, other competitors, volunteers, and employees.

He stated, “We extend our sincere condolences to the sailor’s family during this terrible moment.”

A report will be filed for the coroner despite the absence of suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death, according to the police.
