Cate Blanchett, the acclaimed actress nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her role in “Tár,” is sure to be the centre of attention at the 2023 SAG Awards.
Blanchett chose to rewear one of her past awards-show ensembles, the black chainmail Atelier Versace gown she debuted at the 2016 Costume Designers Guild Awards, with a few updates that made it look brand-new.
Blanchett added a plunging neckline and a sheer lace layer beneath the bodice to dramatically alter the dress.
Blanchett’s outfit recycling is not a new habit, as she has previously exclusively re-worn old outfits for the 2020 Venice Film Festival’s events, some of which she altered to give them new life.
Her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, believes that “beautiful things can come out of sustainability!”.
Blanchett brought back her Maison Margiela gown from the 2015 Oscars for the 2023 BAFTA Awards, and her rainbow-hued Givenchy Haute Couture looks from the 2018 Cannes Film Festival for the 2023 Berlin Film Festival.
