Babes Wodumo returns in studio with “new music loading”

Babes Wodumo, the self-proclaimed gqom queen, is back in the studio and will release her new project shortly.

Babes Wodumo became one of Mzansi’s most successful female singers with her 2016 hit Wololo. Umngan’Wam, Gandaganda, and Angisona were her 2016–2017 hits.

After losing her spouse Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo on December 24, 2022, and her mother-in-law Zamanguni Gumede, Babes is preparing for a big comeback. The Wololo singer appears to have followed her fans’ suggestions to polish her career and recapture her “gqom queen” title.

Durban-based musician and producer Nkazimulo “TNS” Ngema announced on Facebook that he was back in the studio. TNS says Babes is working on her next record, due later this year.

“In Studio w/IDandokazi Babes Wodumo Recording Her 2023 Album,” he wrote.

At Mampintsha’s December memorial ceremony at Thekwini Community Church in Durban, DJ Tira pushed Babes to work hard again to restart her career and get out of her comfort zone. Following Tira’s counsel, the gqom star is set to release additional hits.

Babes must top the charts again. When she started performing, she charged R100,000. If you want to rise again, Babes, you must be uncomfortable. Work hard and focus. Since Mampintsha died, we must raise Sponge. “As his friends, we will do anything for him,” stated Tira.

Babes thanked DJ for loving Mampintsha at his funeral. She then begged Tira and Danger to stay. Tira, thank you for loving my husband and Danger. “Tira, don’t leave me and Danger,” she begged at Mampintsha’s burial.
