A 22-year-old British backpacker dies after falling 65ft down a cliff in Peru

A 22-year-old British backpacker died after falling 65 feet down a Peruvian cliff.

According to reports, the male visitor was ascending a rough slope on Circunvalación Avenue in Cusco, Peru, before falling down a ravine and suffering significant injuries.

According to local media, he was with two friends who contacted 911.

The 22-year-old guy died despite the best efforts of emergency personnel who transported him to the hospital.

According to The Sun, police are currently investigating the incident.

Cusco is a city in Peru’s Andes that was formerly the Inca Empire’s capital. It is around 45 miles (73 kilometres) from Machu Picchu, a tourist attraction and one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Many of the roads in Cusco’s hilly terrain lack clear barriers between the road and the precipitous drop underneath.

One of the roads leading from Cusco to the iconic location of Machu Picchu has been called the ‘Road of Death,’ with very little clearance for vehicles and uneven roads at a tremendous height.

It is unclear how the 22-year-old guy went down the ravine while climbing with two friends.
