A 10-year-old boy and four others are hospitalised after a vehicle hit them in a church parking in Wandsworth

A 10-year-old boy had life-threatening injuries and four others were hospitalised when a vehicle rammed into them in a Wandsworth church parking lot.

Sunday evening, a vehicle crashed into a gathering of mourners attending a memorial service at Christ Church on Cabul Road in south-west London before swerving into a tree.

The child is presently undergoing treatment for his life-altering injuries, according to the police. The remainder of the party was sent to the hospital following the 7.30 p.m. incident.

The 72-year-old motorist was detained on suspicion of traffic offences, including causing serious injury.

He has been granted bail until mid-September pending further investigation.

Roads and Transport Policing Command detectives are investigating the incident.

Detective Constable Benjamin Simpson said: ‘This is a very sad incident in which multiple pedestrians were injured in a private car park at a memorial service.

Anyone who may have observed the collision or has any information is urged to come forward and call the police.
