A car hits church parking, wounding a 10-year-old and four others

A vehicle struck them in a church parking lot, leaving a 10-year-old kid with permanent damage and four others hospitalised.

On Sunday evening at a funeral service at Christ Church on Cabul Road in Wandsworth, south-west London, the vehicle struck a throng of mourners before swerving off and hitting a tree.

According to the police, the youngster is presently undergoing treatment for injuries that will change his life at a hospital.

After the incident around 7.30 p.m., the remainder of the party was also brought to the hospital.

A 72-year-old man who was the driver was detained on suspicion of driving offences, including severe harm.

He has been granted bail until a date in mid-September pending more investigations.

The incident is being looked into by detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command.

Multiple people were hurt in a private parking lot during a funeral ceremony, according to Detective Constable Benjamin Simpson.
