A seven-year-old boy is recuperating in the hospital after plunging 30 feet onto a stone path at a famous beauty spot.

On Monday afternoon, the boy was transported to the hospital after falling to the ground under the Seven Arches Bridge during a school excursion to Rivington Terraced Gardens, Lancashire.

The boy was transferred to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, where he is now recuperating, where he was assisted by ambulance services and Bolton Mountain Rescue.

Bolton Mountain Rescue said on Monday: ‘At 2.04pm this afternoon the team was contacted by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) NHS Trust who were requesting our attendance to help extricate a casualty at Rivington Terraced Gardens.

‘An NWAS crew and North West Air Ambulance Charity (NWAA) aircraft were already in attendance.

‘A seven-year-old boy was reported to have tumbled some 30 feet down steep ground below the Seven Arches Bridge landmark, eventually coming to rest on a stone path.

‘Working with the NWAS and NWAA crews on scene the young man was carried up to the bridge and transferred to an NWAS ambulance for transfer by road to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.’
