In other developments, the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) has provided some perspective on the situation after a video of one of its bus fleets being stuck beneath a low-height bridge surfaced online again and generated a commotion. The video was posted on the internet.
After being stranded beneath a bridge in Durban, the long-distance bus City to City became a viral topic on several social media platforms, including Twitter and Instagram.
The bus made an attempt to drive underneath the bridge that went to the Greyville Racecourse, but it was unsuccessful, which resulted in damage to both the bus and the bridge infrastructure.
However, a spokesperson for PRASA named Andiswa Makanda came out to shed light on the situation. In her statement, she made a reference to the fact that the image is popular right now, but the incident occurred more than half a decade ago.
“The incident occurred 5 years ago, and the driver was fired since he knew the laws of the road and the height of the bridge,” said Makanda. “The incident occurred on the bridge.”
She went on to clarify that there were no people on the bus and that it was empty.
She reiterating that “our bus drivers know the rules of the road and bridge limits,” and adding that they have not had any instances of this sort prior to or after the event, she said that “our bus drivers know the regulations of the road.”
