At least 45 people who were returning from a funeral are injured after a bus overturns outside the Waterloo Sports Centre in Waterloo – KZN.

A bus flipped outside the Waterloo Sports Centre in Waterloo, KZN, injuring at least 45 people who were traveling back after a funeral.

Witnesses repeatedly called Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) to ask for help for the hurt passengers. When RUSA Medics and Reaction Officers arrived on the scene, they saw the bus lying on its side.

With the help of the general public and RUSA Members, the injured were extricated from the debris.

The injured were sent to a nearby hospital by private and government-run ambulance services after suffering minor to major injuries.

The bus’s occupants were friends and family who, at the time of the disaster, were traveling back to Waterloo, KZN from a funeral in Buffelsdraai, Verulam.

Unknown circumstances forced the motorist to leave the scene.
