Wrexham star scored a lucky goal in his teams’ recent win

Paul Mullin, the Wrexham goal machine, scored what at first glance looked to be a goal of the highest caliber, but it turned out to be nothing more than a stroke of luck.

During the eventual 4-3 victory over Aldershot Town, the prolific National League striker, who many think would shine at Championship level, sprinted off celebrating what may have been his hat-trick.

The 28-year-old did not use his heel to scoop the ball over Luca Ashby-Hammond, a Fulham loanee, who was advancing from behind the goal from one particular angle.

One person tweeted: “Wrexham’s goal by Paul Mullin How on earth is that possible.” That’s world class, the second said.

“Now that was remarkable,” remarked a third. A fourth concurred: “I witnessed this in person and am still baffled by his technique. but some player.”

Although Mullin only managed to capture two goals in the match, video from the club media clearly demonstrates that his shot was not even close to finding the back of the net before it struck Corey Jordan.

Co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney responded to the victory in a rather dramatic manner given that there is only one automatic promotion slot into League Two.

Tweeted McElhenney: “This season, I very well could pass away from a heart incident. Soccer is heaven or hell.”

Reynolds whereas: “really pushing the boundaries of the acceptable drinking window. Wrexham AFC, oh my gosh.”

Wrexham now sits five points behind Notts County with two games remaining after securing another crucial three points against Scunthorpe as Mullin increased his season total to 33 goals in all competitions.

In addition to appreciating Will Ferrell’s recent visit, Wrexham supporters were happy to see Bill Sharp disciplined by the FA for his remarks made after their game against Sheffield United.

The forward was found guilty of improper behavior, according to the FA, which claimed that the forward’s statements “implied bias and/or challenged the referee’s integrity.”
