Updated figures place Elon Musk within striking distance of the world’s wealthiest position

In terms of personal net worth, Elon Musk, who was born in South Africa and owns Twitter, will not look back on 2022 with much affection.

The 51-year-old from Pretoria has had a much, much better start to the year.

According to The South African website, Musk entered the Guinness World Records as the first individual in history to lose that much of money when he lost $200 billion late last year.

NOT the type of record desired!

Elon Musk has added $44.8 billion to his net worth this year, putting him at No. 2 in this ranking after exactly four weeks of 2023.

That is equivalent to R793 billion!

His current net worth is $182 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a daily ranking of the world’s wealthiest individuals.

France’s Bernard Arnault remains the world’s richest person, ‘just’ $5 billion ahead of Elon Musk, with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos rounding out the top three.

Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Larry Ellison, Steve Ballmer, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and Carlos Slim are the remaining members of the top ten, in order.
