Elon Musk regains his title as the world’s richest person

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter and Tesla, regained his title as the world’s richest person on Monday, according to Bloomberg. Musk’s net worth reached $187.1 billion after Tesla stock surged 5.5% on Monday afternoon, surpassing the fortune of French businessman Bernard Arnault, whose net worth is $185.3 billion. Musk had been in second place for two months, but Tesla’s rising stock price helped him reclaim the top spot.

At the beginning of 2023, Musk had lost a staggering $200 billion, making him the first person ever to do so. However, his electric car company’s shares have reportedly helped him earn back his title as the richest person in the world, with Tesla’s stock price increasing by about 70% this year.

Musk, who also owns SpaceX, had lost his title as the wealthiest person in the world to Arnault in December. Arnault owns and is CEO of LVMH, the world’s largest luxury goods company.

Despite spending $44 billion to purchase Twitter last year, Musk has regained his title as the richest person in the world. He has recently cut over 200 employees from the social media company.
