United Kingdom Should “Move On” from the Monarchy, Says Actor Brian Cox

In a recent interview with Haute Living New York, actor Brian Cox shared his views on Meghan Markle’s decision to marry Prince Harry.

The 76-year-old actor, known for his role in “Succession,” claimed that Markle had “clearly” harbored ambitions of joining the royal family before marrying Harry in 2018.

Cox went on to allege that Markle had “childhood dreams” of marrying a prince and that she should not be surprised by the drama she and Harry created by exiting the royal family.

Cox explained that it was unrealistic to expect someone to join a system where others have already been trained to behave a certain way and then cut themselves off from it.

He added that Markle “knew what she was getting into.”

Later in the interview, Cox stated his belief that the United Kingdom should “move on” from the monarchy, as it was not viable and did not make sense.

Despite his views on the monarchy, Cox defended Markle and Harry’s decision to step back from royal duties, stating that they had clearly endured something traumatic.

He also expressed his belief that their allegations of mistreatment by the royal family were true and should have been rectified.

The couple’s experiences are the subject of their recent Netflix docuseries, “Harry & Meghan,” and Harry’s memoir, “Spare.”

The couple, who live in California with their children Archie and Lilibet, have been invited to King Charles III’s coronation in May.

Though it is unclear whether they will attend, the palace is reportedly “preparing” for their presence.
