A truck carrying hundreds of jars of Alfredo sauce collided with a median strip on a Tennessee highway, drenching the road with the condiment.
The Alfredo sauce covered all three lanes on the northbound side of I-55 after being thrown into the air by a tractor-trailer that crashed into a median on Tuesday evening, according to Memphis Police.
The lady driving the vehicle had minor injuries and was transferred to a local hospital.
A cleaning team is working to remove the jars and pallets off the road as a tow vehicle tries to retrieve the wrecked trailer in the aftermath, which is seen on video.
One of the first reporters on the site to corroborate the spill was Fox 13 Memphis’ Kate Bieri, who said that the stench alone was sufficient proof that Alfredo sauce had spilled into the road.
In an interview on Wednesday, she added, “Unfortunately, this is Memphis, and we had some fairly powerful heat hitting down on that Alfredo sauce, as well as humidity.”
It was just not a good recipe for an Alfredo sauce motorway.
She continued by saying that the cleaning was mostly handled by a lone individual who was collecting the sauce and discarding it in a trash.
Bieri noticed that the cleaning staff were ‘all wearing boots, like they were trudging through snow but it was Alfredo sauce.’
Four hours after the collision, the roadway was still mostly free, but according to Bieri, the fragrance was still there and it smelled “very terrible.”
Which brand of Alfredo sauce the truck was delivering was a mystery.
The event occurred only one day after a related one in which more than 150,000 tomatoes were dumped on Interstate 80 in California.
The tomatoes were sent flying when approaching vehicles smashed them, according to officials, who claimed a semi-truck carrying the produce collided into a medium on the highway near Vacaville. This left a mess on the road.
According to CNN, the unkempt road caused a collision between four automobiles that resulted in one serious injury and two minor ones.
