Mark Steinberg, agent for Tiger Woods dumps Thomas Pieters as client after Pieters moved to LIV Golf

Longtime agent for Tiger Woods, Mark Steinberg, dropped Thomas Pieters as a client after Pieters joined LIV Golf. Pieters was part of the latest wave of golfers to switch to LIV Golf, along with Danny Lee and Brendan Steele.

Steinberg’s decision to drop Pieters comes as no surprise since Woods has publicly supported the PGA Tour in its fight with Saudi-backed LIV Golf. Steinberg does not represent any golfers playing for LIV.

Pieters was informed of Steinberg’s decision by an “underling” and described the experience as “weird.” LIV Golf recently began its new season at El Camaleon in Mexico, but the PGA Tour has been in a legal battle with the new golf league.

LIV Golf took over an antitrust lawsuit filed by 11 golfers against the PGA Tour, and the Tour filed a countersuit accusing LIV of “tortious interference.”

At the Hero World Challenge in November, Woods stated that for the two sides to find an amicable path forward, LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman “has to go.” However, he doesn’t see it happening anytime soon because of Norman’s animosity towards the Tour.
