SUV struck and killed a 7-year-old girl in Queens

Police report that a 7-year-old girl was hit and killed by a SUV in Queens on Friday night.

A Ford Explorer driven by a 46-year-old woman struck the youngster shortly before 6 p.m. at the junction of Newtown Road and 46th Street in Woodside, according to police.

The little girl was transported to the Elmhurst Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

According to authorities, the youngster was in the roadway when she was struck by the Vehicle, although it is unclear if she was at an intersection or had the right of way.

The driver remained on-scene. The police have made no arrests and do not suspect criminal activity in relation to the unfortunate accident.
